GAME Plan Update

As of Friday, I have made considerable progress in meeting my first goal: to become more proficient facilitatin the web conferencing tool Safari Montage Live. My class became expert entomologists on the physical characteristics of mosquitos, their life cycle, similarities and differnces between male and female, how they are harmful or helpful, and how to create an unfriendly schoolyard in preparation for Friday's web conference. They wrote a script to share with another class and we did a live we conference discussing each of their areas of study. The two classes involved took turns presenting their information via Safari Montage Live and we wrapped up our conference by completing a compare and contrasting venn diagram on our chalkboards that were visible through the webcam. Overall, it was a huge success, but next time, I would like to become more familiar with the interactive whiteboard feature in Safari Montage Live. Now that this is over and I have reevaluated my first goal, next week I plan on putting more concentration into my second goal.

  1. Brooke,
This sounds like an amazing and well planned assignment. Great job.

Before you forget this awesome experience, maybe you could write down what technology struggles you had along the way to avoid running into similar problems next year. Also, write down steps you took to make this project come together. I was reading your second goal, and it talked about organizing all your content, and focusing on integrating technology so I thought reflecting on this assignment (while it is still current) would be a great way to start working on your second goal. I found in the past, that I sometimes forget how I accomplished something a year ago and end up going through the same trial and error the next year.

Thanks for sharing your great ideas and strategies you use to incorporate technology into the classroom.

  2. Brooke, that is awesome that everything went so well! I am sure the students loved it! Are you on summer vacation yet? I can't believe you got that all in! Summer will be a great time to get to organize your content and focus on your second goal. Good luck!

  3. Brooke,
You really accomplished a great deal at the end of school! Very impressive! What a great learning experience for you and your students. One of the things your students will remember about your class was that they created this project together. Thanks for sharing the information. I will check out Safari Montage as a possible tool.
