In order to reach both goals of my GAME plan to become a better teacher with technology, I need to properly prepare and gather resources before I begin my Action. To prepare for my first Goal: to become more proficient in facilitating the web conferencing tool Safari Montage Live. To prepare for this lesson, I am currently seeking out professional develop opportunities with the staff from the Department of Technology that utilize this software on a regular basis. In additional to staff from the Department of Technology, I am also gathering names of teachers interested in completing this lesson with me. In addition, I have already began experimenting and exploring Safari Montage Live independently to become more familiar with the software. I plan on holding my first conference within the next couple of weeks.
For my second Goal: plan ahead in each of my units across the curriculum to successfully infuse the National Technology Standards into my county's curriculum in whole group and individual enrichment or reinforcement activities, I been viewing the Curriculum-Based Technology Integration Activities page on my county's intranet to get inspiration and ideas for next year's lessons. In addition, I have gathered all my typed lesson plans developed throughout the year into one chronological folder for future review and revision. As the year winds to a close, I will continue to document my lessons in this manner for review while I have a little downtime in the summer. I now look forward to a technologically groundbreaking year for me next year!

Brooke,
ReplyDeleteIt sounds to me like you have a wonderful plan in place and are well on your way to accomplishing your goals. I am curious as to what Safari Montage Live is. I haven't heard of this before. Is it similar to Skype? Will you be conferencing with parents or other teachers using this tool? Good luck!
I am also curious as to what Safari Montage Live is. I have been using Skype for quite sometime now but I am very intriqued with some of the capabilities Safari Montage Live may have to offer.
ReplyDeleteLindsay and Brett,
ReplyDeleteThanks for your feedback. Safari Montage Live is an interactive videoconferencing system that is similar in nature to Skype. It enables students to conference face-to-face with their peers, authors, etc. It even has an instant messenger feature for those students who are more reluctant to speak. The interactive white board is probably the feature that I like most. I have just scratched the surface of what it truly has to offer, but I do look forward to using it to conference with other teachers. In order to participate in a web-conference, the person on the other end has to accept an invitation through their email. There is a subscription fee, so I believe that I can only use it with other staff members or schools who have purchased a membership. I am definitely interested in knowing if I could possibly communicate with the parents of my students through this system.
I will have to look more into Safari Montage Live. I was going to use Skype for my GAME plan but this sounds great too! Did you organize other folders too or just your lesson plans? Was there a method to how you did it? I need to organize games and activities on my computer as well!
ReplyDeleteIt seems that a lot of us need to look into safari montage. I have never heard of it. I am always looking into ways to organize games and activities, as well as other things that I am working with. I have only done Skype once. I guess this is the next endeavor for me to try this summer! Thanks for posting.
ReplyDeleteBrooke,
ReplyDeleteI always plan on going back and reviewing my lesson plans in the summer, but when summer rolls around, I end up relaxing and nothing seems to get done. If you are like me, then I would recommend you make a more detailed plan about when you are going to review lessons and stick to it. I think that would be very hard for me. Good luck!
